Ordered a few menu options at Barnacle Bill and can say that it’s definitely one of the best fish & chips in Western Sydney area, not just Penrith. They cook on order but definitely worth waiting for a few minutes. Menu is simple, food cooked fresh from quality ingredients, no fancy pretentious dish. I decided to pop in one foggy night after my partner mentioned a hankering for chicken chips from a takeaway shop. But after doing some googling, I wanted to check of Barnacle Bill! And I managed to convince my partner to get fish and chips instead. What a great decision that was! The way the seafood is crumbed is lovely and light. Good quality and tasty food. I tried chickenettes and chips 6-8 pieces. Good portion size and chips taste good. Chicken ettes are similar to chicken snitzel. Wait time was not long. Came with 2 sauces. Overall, 5 stars.
The lunch special was exceptional! The portion was plenty for one. Calamari, prawn, fish and chips were still crispy even after 10-15mins drive to the Tench Reserve. The hake size was huge. Coleslaw was creamy and delicious as well. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. You won’t regret having a great take away from this shop in Penrith.
